About THAPAR UNIVERSITY EXAM,(TIET) 2022

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) admissions 2022-23 are open. The institute is inviting applications for its UG, PG, and PhD programs. Last date to submit the applications for UG programs is June 15. PG & PhD application deadline is June 30, 2022. Thapar University has reopened its application portal for MBA program. Candidates can now apply till June 10. However, selection process for MBA applications received on or before May 30 will be treated as per the previous dates issued.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology admission 2022 is both entrance and merit-based. The institute will admit candidates to its BTech program on the basis of JEE Main 2022 scores. Examination for the current year is scheduled in two sessions, i.e., June 20-29 and July 21-30. Along with the JEE Main 2022 scores, interested candidates must apply at Thapar University for BTech program till June 15. Admission to other UG programs such as BA, BSc, and BBA is primarily entrance-based. Applications for courses under Liberal Arts and Sciences are open for 2022-23 admissions. 

Admission to Thapar University PG programs such as MTech, PhD, and MBA is based on GATE, NET, GPAT, CMAT, NMAT score. For MA, MCA, and MSc, TIET the selection process is merit-based. Applications for Thapar University MBA program have been re-opened for late applicants. New deadline for application submission is June 10. MTech, MA, MSc, MCA, and PhD applications are open till June 30.

A candidate is eligible for admission into the Second year of BE, if:

• Candidate has diploma, in any relevant discipline with 2 to 3-years of minimum duration after 10th class. The minimum aggregate marks in this degree is 60% (55% for SC/ST).

• 50% aggregate marks in Postgraduation or Graduation from a recognized University/ Institute. OR

• Candidates with one year of experience are exempted from the eligibility requirement of 50% marks in Graduation or Postgraduation. 
• Candidate must have valid CAT/ NMAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ Thapar Entrance test score.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology MBA Selection Criteria

Selection to Thapar University MBA program involved CAT/NMAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT/GRE scores. The institute conducts Thapar University Entrance test for candidates who apply without national level scores. Candidates qualifying the written test round are selected for GD/PI round for final admissions. There are five stages of getting in the Thapar University MBA selection criteria:

Stage 1: Submitting online application: Aspiring candidates are required to submit the online applications at this stage. Thapar University admission form 2022 for MBA is available at www.lmtsm.thapar.edu. Candidates are required to fill their basic details along with academic and management test scores.

Stage 2: Application Review: Admission committee reviews applications received from candidates. They further shortlis candidates for GD and PI round or Institute’s entrance based on their performance in the previous qualifying examinations.

Stage 3: Evaluation Process: Shortlisted candidates are evaluated through readiness test, GD, and PI.

Stage 4: Communication of Decision: The stage involves communication of decision made by the admission committee. Candidates selected after the evaluation process are sent offer letters in this stage.

Stage 5: Final Counselling and Fee Deposit: Candidates selected for final admission are required to accept the offer letter at this stage. The process of accepting the offer involves document and fee submission through e-counselling or in-person counselling.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology BTech/BE Selection Criteria

TIET BTech/BE selection criteria involves admission through JEE Main/NEET, Class 12 merits, and highest scores in Class 12 boards. Below are the details related to Thapar University admission process for BTech:

• Mode 1: Based on JEE Main- 2022 percentile for 50% seats: 50% of the total seats are filled on the basis of percentile based on merit of JEE Main 2022. 
  • For BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, 50% of the seats are filled through NEET 2022 percentile. Remaining 50% seats are filled through Class 12 scores.
• Mode 2: Based on 10+2 marks in PCM for 50% seats: 50% of the seats are filled on the basis of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent exam. The aggregate marks for selection are calculated on three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject.
• Top 5 candidates in Class 12 board: Candidates who are in the list of top 5 students in their respective Class 12 board are given direct admission. These candidates must appear in the JEE Main exam to become eligible. However, final merit list is prepared only on the basis of Class 12 percentile. These candidates must present a proof of being in the Top 5 to get admission.

In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode 1 or Mode 2 are filled through Mode 2 or Mode 1 and Vice versa. For example, if there are seats available under Mode 1 criteria, seats are filled on the basis of Class 12 percentile. Similarly, if there are seats left vacant in Mode 2 criteria, candidates will be selected for admission through JEE Main percentile

Syllabus

• The candidate must have passed 10+2 with 60% aggregate marks in three subjects- Physics, Mathematics, and any one out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject*.
• The candidate must have passes Class 12 in 2020, 2021, or appearing in 2022.

  Note: For SC/ST category candidates, the institute gives relaxation of 5% in Class 12 scores.
